Global Glimpse: International

Explore Panama, Dominican Republic, or Costa Rica with Global Glimpse for 11 days! Participants will take on unique activities such as Leader of the Day, a Community Action Project, community engagement and mentoring from the Global Glimpse staff. All Global Glimpse’s programs combine leadership development, cultural immersion, and service-learning to offer participants a real-world experience where they gain leadership skills, think critically about the world around them, and make friendships that will last a lifetime.

Global Glimpse holds multiple sessions throughout the summer. Check their website below for specific session dates!

Participants

Mix of students from across the country. You may not have another Summer Searcher on your trip.

Travel

Global Glimpse will provide transportation - U.S. passport is required!

Housing

Dorm-style living, sharing a bedroom with other participants

Bathrooms

Shared dorm bathrooms

Phone Access

You will have your phone when traveling to and from the program. You will not have your phone in-country

Activities vary based on trip, but all trips will include:

  • Learning about the local culture and history of communities in Costa Rica, Panama, or the Dominican Republic

  • Completing a Community Action Project, working alongside local organizations and engage in ethical service work that supports a community need

  • Taking on Leader of the Day once during your trip, stepping up to ensure your teammates are ready and excited for the day

  • Gain practicalskills and knowledge in becoming a responsible global citizen

  • Connect to a new community outside of the USA

  • Get an expanded outlook on the world and the role you want to play in it

  • Develop skills in teamwork, adaptability and problem solving as you work together as a group and with local organizations

  • Can meet Global Glimpse's expectation for pre-trip meetings, including at least 4 workships and family info sessions in the spring

  • Want to connect to a new community outside of the U.S.

  • Want to get an expanded outlook on the world and the role I want to play in it

  • Want to develop skills in teamwork, adaptability and problem solving as I work together with a group and with local organizations to support communities impacted by coastal land loss

  • Want an opportunity to disconnect since I'll be outside, doing a lot of physical yet rewarding work to help communities rebuild

  • Understand that Global Glimpse will match me to a trip, taking my summer schedule and country preferences into consideration

  • Have or am able to get a U.S. passport for travel
