University of the Pacific

The University of the Pacific's Pre-College Summer Program offers high school students a unique opportunity to experience college life before they graduate. Participants can select from a 50+ academic courses across various disciplines, with dedicated and experienced instructors. They'll have a taste of campus living and meet peers, all while gaining essential skills for the transition to college and beyond. It's an enjoyable and enriching way to learn and prepare for the future.

Participants

Mix of students from all over. You may or may not have another Summer Searcher on your same Summer Session.

Travel

Students coordinate transportation, if possible. Summer Search can support if needed

Housing

Dorms, sharing a room with other participant(s)

Phone Access

You'll have your phone throughout the program

  • Choose from a variety of academic courses taught by Pacific professors

    • Example courses include: 3D Art and Animation, Spanish for the Health Professions, Game Design and Development, Leadership for Women, Basketball Skills academy, and more

  • Experience hands-on learning through labs, projects, and workshops from Pacific professors

  • Some programs include field trips to local attractions, museums, or businesses to enhance your understanding of the subject matter and provide real-world exposure

  • Outside of class, participate in social activities, such as movie nights, talent shows, or outings to nearby attractions

*Note: On the selection survey, we will ask you for your top 3 courses, so Pacific can try to reserve a spot for you!  Please review their website below for more info about their courses.

  • A taste of college life, with opportunities to take college-level courses and experience academic rigor

  • Become familiar with the college environment and gain insights into what campus life might be like

  • A chance to explore your academic and career interests, helping you make more informed decisions about future paths

  • Build connections with peers and professors

  • Learn about a college you may want to attend in the future!

  • Know what specific courses I'm interested in, since I'll be asked on the survey!

  • Am interested in living on a college campus

  • Am comfortable navigating new systems and spaces on your own

  • Have a high follow-through, meaning I can:

    • Own the responsibility of completing the application

    • Register for courses that may fill up quickly

    • Manage time between class and social activities

  • Am currently on track to graduate high school and in good academic standing
