SUMMER SPRINGBOARD
AT UC BERKELEY

Located at UC Berkeley, Summer Springboard offers students a 2-week residential opportunity to take hands-on courses within a specific industry—such as medicine, economics, biotechnology or engineering. Students will have the chance to select and dive into a field they’re interested in, learn directly from professionals in that industry, attend field trips, and develop friendships with youth from around the world.

  • Location: UC Berkeley in Berkeley, CA

  • Program Length: 2 weeks 

  • Courses & Dates:

    • June 15 - June 27 (classes will be held on Juneteenth)

    • June 22 - July 4

    • June 29 - July 11 (classes will be held on July 4th)

    • July 6 - July 18

    • July 13 - July 25

    • July 20 - August 1

  • Participant Mix: Mix of students from across the country and around the world. You may not have another Summer Searcher in your chosen academic field. 

  • Accommodations: Dorms, sharing a room with another participant

  • Bathrooms: Shared dorm bathrooms

  • Phone Access: You'll have your phone throughout the program

  • COVID Policy: COVID vaccine and booster required, or medical/religious exemption

program ACTIVITIES

  • During the week, attend 3-hour workshop where you'll learn more about your chosen academic field of interest through hands-on opportunities (e.g. labs, hands-on lectures, field trips)

  • In the afternoons, participate in electives - such as college admissions, athletics, service learning, or digital arts - or join their True You program to explore your leadership style while learning how to use your Summer Springboard experience in your journey towards applying to college or a future job.

  • Hear from guest speakers who are experts in their field about various topics in your selected area

  • Go on field trips on the weekends to have fun, tour San Francisco with your new friends, and go to Great America

  • Navigate relationships with your classmates and roommates

  • Have a strong grasp of English

  • On track to graduate from high school

VIRTUAL OPTION!
SUMMER SPRINGBOARD'S
summer IMMERSION ACADEMY

If you prefer a virtual experience or have scheduling conflicts, you can participate in Summer Springboard's Virtual Immersion Academy instead. ​This is a fully virtual program with no in-person components. 

Similar to their in-person experience, you get to select a subject area of interest.

You will do a deep dive into this subject area for 9 days, meeting as a class for 3 hours a day.
